The Cowichan Agricultural Society (CAS) hosts regular workshops, farm tours, professional development opportunities, and an annual Harvest BBQ & Farmer’s Market to benefit farmers, farms, and other agricultural stakeholders in the Cowichan Valley.
Workshops
CAS offers workshops with insightful guest speakers, such as Joel Salatin of Polyface Farm (2009) and Dr. Jill Clapperton (2010). Check out our homepage for the latest workshop news.
Farm Tours
CAS meetings are replaced with monthly farm tours during the summer so we can learn from one another’s experiences. Check out the photos from our tour of Wilberry Orchards.
Fall Harvest BBQ
After two successful years of hosting a mid-week evening barbeque featuring local food served up by local farmers, the CAS BBQ is becoming a September institution. Click here for details on the September 14, 2011 BBQ. Check out the photos from our 2009 and 2010 events.
Political Tours
Every few years CAS hosts a tour of farms for local political representatives and government decision-makers to help connect farmers and their issues with those who have the power or potential to change agricultural policy. The next tour is scheduled for 2012.
Become a Member!
Come to the next meeting of the Cowichan Agricultural Society, and connect with these local farms and farmers. Meetings are held the first Wednesday of every month, at 7pm.
