What We Farm
Category Archives: Eggs
Our member farms feed the Cowichan and Vancouver Island community with vegetables, fruit, honey, nuts, meat, eggs, hay, Christmas trees, wine and tea. They also provide services, from haying to strategic planning.

We have 18 acres of land with a creek that runs through it. The soil is poor, but with organic manure we have built it up over the past 16 years for haying. We also sell eggs at the farm gate.

Located just 400 meters from Highway 1 on Koksilah Road, the Island Shire has easy on/off access. We offer free-range eggs, pastured broilers, and naturally grown vegetables & flowers. No chemical fertilizers or pesticides!
The farm stand (look for the blue roof) is open during daylight hours through summer and fall. Eggs are available year round–look for the yellow Fresh Eggs sign–if it’s flipped up and you see yellow, you’re in luck; otherwise it will say Sorry No Eggs.
You can also find us on Saturdays at the Duncan Farmer’s Market. Along with our fresh produce, our specialties include dill beans, jams, and salsa, all made from the vegetables and fruits grown here on the Shire. You can taste the difference that vine-ripened, hand-picked, non-sprayed produce makes to our canned goods!
Maple Grove Farm produces beef, eggs and a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, with customer favourites being the beef, corn and late season raspberries.
Farm visits and sales:
A self-serve market stand is open during daylight hours through summer and fall. Orders for beef are taken in late summer/early fall. Visitors are welcome at any time.

“Terra Nossa” means “Our Land” in Portuguese, and our road name “Kilmalu” means “Welcome” in Maori: we welcome you to our 26 acre farm located in the heart of the banana belt of the Cowichan Valley.
We are fortunate enough to have gentle southern slopes, warm ocean breezes and lots of water, perfect for our livestock consisting of layers, broilers, turkeys and pigs and our crops of thornless blackberries, goji berries and a truffier with 100 oak trees and 300 hazelnut trees inoculated with the Perigord Black Truffle. Our farm is in the transition phase of organic certification. We use 100% certified organic feed and organic practices.

We left city life in 2010 to make the farm our home. Our 7 acres of land is home to 75 goats (and counting), many chickens, 3 cats, and 1 dog. We hand craft small batches of aged, raw goats’ milk cheese using only fresh milk from our herd. Aged, hard cheeses with a natural rind are our specialty. We also produce seasonal goods including garlic and pasture-raised poultry and eggs.
Farm gate poultry and meat sales are by appointment only by calling 250 701 7533. When in season, eggs are available from a self-serve fridge behind the white house. At this time we do not retail cheese from the farm.
